Before your SSI Freediving course, you will need to read, complete, and sign several forms. Please send these to me before the course starts, either electronically or by mail. The content of the forms may seem quite legal, which is understandable since SSI, as a global organization, uses these documents to protect itself against liability claims.

To participate in freediving safely, you should be fit and healthy. You are considered "fit" if you can swim 200 meters without interruption and without aids at a moderate pace (this equals 8 lengths in a 25m pool or 4 lengths in a 50m pool). If you can ride a bike, walk briskly, and don't get out of breath climbing stairs, you should have no trouble meeting the swimming requirements.

Complete the 10 questions on page 3 of the form. If you answered "No" to all, simply sign the form. If you answered "Yes" to questions 3, 5, or 10 OR any of the questions on page 2, a doctor's confirmation of your fitness for diving is required to participate in the course.

Remember to schedule an appointment with your family doctor or a diving specialist well in advance of the course. You can find a list of diving physicians here: https://suhms.org.
