Perfect for spearfishing and freediving: The Mares Hydro Propel Buoy offers safety and visibility in the water.
The Hydro Propel buoy offers great buoyancy with its 50-litre volume. Made from robust material and equipped with a large mesh pocket. The Hydro Propel buoy features large D-rings for carrying and securing equipment. Visibility in the water is ensured by the bright orange color and the 20 cm x 20 cm diving flag. With the Mares Hydro Propel buoy, you will be seen in the water!
The Mares Hydro Propel buoy has a very large valve with a two-way system for easy inflation and quick deflation.
Mares has equipped the Hydro Propel buoy with numerous functional features, including eight large nylon D-rings on the sides and two large lower D-rings. The lower D-rings have optimized pulling points to minimize drag on the water's surface.
The buoy comes with a distinctive 20 cm x 20 cm diving flag. On top, there is a large mesh pocket. The buoy is also equipped with two adjustable elastic bands for securing a speargun or other equipment.
This ultra-light buoy is easy to carry thanks to the shoulder strap.
My tip for freedivers: Have you ever let yourself be carried by the current of a river? An unforgettable experience, for example, on the Rhine or the Aare. With the right equipment, it's also a great way to introduce non-freedivers to our sport. It's very important to watch out for boat traffic and make yourself highly visible to them. Attach the Mares Hydro Propel buoy to your equipment and drag it about 10 m behind you. Make sure you can quickly detach the buoy in case of snagging.
My tip for spearfishers: You need to make yourself visible not only on the surface but also want to carry a second speargun with you (e.g., a long and a short one). You should also bring a water bottle to drink from time to time. Moistening the mucous membranes also helps to prevent equalization problems.
